Updated 4 November 2026.
- Parkday is published by Wayside Foundry LLC. Questions about your data: contact@waysidefoundry.com, with a subject that starts with Parkday.
- Parkday has no sign-in. It does not ask for your name, email or phone number.
- Your trips, your start point and the days saved for no signal are kept on your phone or computer. When notifications are on, the parts of a trip described below are also kept on our server.
- If you tap 'Use my location', your location is used on your device to work out distances. Your exact location is not sent to our server. For a camping search, only a rough area is sent (your start rounded to a square about 35 miles across) so that Recreation.gov campgrounds nearby can be found; distances are then worked out on your device.
- Maps are drawn from USGS The National Map. They show the places in your results, a campground or a trail; your start is never put on a map, so the map pictures your device asks USGS for are of those places, not of where you are.
- If you tap Where I am on a map, your phone's GPS position is drawn on that map on your device. It is not sent to our server or to anyone else, and the map does not move to it on its own. If you save a map for no signal, its pictures are kept in your browser on your device.
- If you post a review, your phone keeps a random id it made itself; our server keeps a one-way hash of it, your stars, your words, the month you chose and your photo if you added one, and shows them under a short name made from that hash, never your own name. To check a review can be shown, its words and photo are sent to Anthropic, whose model reads them under Anthropic's commercial terms. A report keeps the hashed ids of the phones that reported. Deleting your review removes it and its photo. Blocking someone is kept only on your phone.
- Permits and park entry near a place are found from that place's own location (the park or the area you opened), not from yours.
- Next open campsite asks Recreation.gov's search from the same rough area, and, if nothing nearby is open, from points about 450 and 850 miles from that rough area. It may start on its own when you open the app, so the answer is ready.
- If you type a city or ZIP, that text is sent through our server to a place lookup service to find it: the Census Geocoder for a street address, and GeoNames for a city or ZIP.
- If you turn on notifications, our server keeps your browser's push address and what it needs to time reminders and alerts: the park, campground, trip dates, reminder times and the alerts already sent.
- To write the plain-English read of a trip day, the day's plans, whether kids or a dog are coming, and the park data for that day are sent to Anthropic. With notifications on, our server holds that day's plans and party flags with the trip, so it can build the day the evening before.
- Parkday Pro, in the Parkday app from Google Play or the App Store, is bought through your store account. The store takes the payment; Parkday never sees card details. RevenueCat, our purchase service, keeps an anonymous app user id, which Pro purchases that id holds and their status, so the app can tell whether Pro is on. The website version sells nothing.
- Wayside Foundry LLC staff can read the push addresses, schedules and trip details held on our server.
- Services that handle data for Parkday: Netlify hosts the app and stores server data (Netlify Blobs), RevenueCat records Pro purchases in the phone app, your browser's push service (Apple for Safari, Google for Chrome, Mozilla for Firefox) delivers notifications, Anthropic writes the day summaries, and the Wayside Foundry Ore gateway fetches data from the National Park Service, National Weather Service, USGS, AirNow (EPA), the EPA UV Index, NRCS SNOTEL, NOAA tide predictions, OpenAQ, GBIF, the National Interagency Fire Center, NASA FIRMS, Recreation.gov and its RIDB feed, ReserveCalifornia, the Census Geocoder and GeoNames.
- Netlify keeps standard request logs, including IP addresses, as our host.
- Parkday does not use analytics or advertising and does not sell data.
- Server data for a trip is deleted 30 days after the trip ends, or at once when you delete the trip with 'Delete trip and its reminders' or tap 'Turn off notifications on this device'.
- On your device Parkday keeps one saved document of your trips, Find specs and start point (browser storage, key park-day.v2) and a store of saved days and places (IndexedDB, park-day). To delete what is on your device, delete trips in the app or clear this site's data in your browser.
- Parkday is a trip planning tool for adults and is not directed at children. The 'kids' choice is a yes or no on a trip and identifies no child.
